While in the small town of Farmington, Pennsylvania, we decided to have dinner at nearby Braddock’s Inn. When we walked through the front door, we found ourselves in a small shop with souvenirs and jewelry. The host quickly showed us to a table. The restaurant is in what appears to be an old house, with tables in various rooms.
There was a bit of a delay before we saw a server, but Carrie was friendly and helpful with menu questions. We ordered drinks while we looked over the menu. In addition to the regular menu, there were also four choices for the weekend specials.
We ordered Drunken Roquefort Mussels as an appetizer. The Chilean blue mussels, with garlic, tomatoes, and scallions, served in a Roquefort white wine sauce, were delicious. We love to order mussels anytime we see them on a menu, and I am always intrigued there are so many ways to prepare them. These mussels were in the top tier of what we have sampled.
We had trouble deciding on our entrees, but Chris eventually decided on Country Fried Steak. He chose country beans and mashed potatoes for his sides. The tenderized, seasoned, and pan-fried cube steak was nicely cooked and went well with the delicious mashed potatoes and gravy. Chris was not as fond of the green beans.
We took the extra back with us and ate it for breakfast the next day. The food came out of the kitchen on the slower side, but we weren’t in any hurry, and the good food was worth the wait.
The cost for two beers, a cocktail, an appetizer, and two entrees was $59.76.
The Country Fried Steak looks delicious and so does the Fried Chicken (?) you ordered. The mashed potatoes have me drooling though.
The entrees were good, but the mussels were fantastic.
I’ll echo Mia’s comment! I’m also drooling over those mussels. I never thought of pairing a strong cheese with mussels, but it looks fabulous. I like Chris’ disc golf shirt. 🙂
We’ve been several places that pair strong cheeses with mussels. Somehow, it works.
