While we don’t usually have breakfast at camp, we do enjoy our morning coffee.  It’s nice to take a few minutes to relax before we start packing up.  We weren’t really coffee drinkers when we met, so never really needed a coffee maker.  After we discovered a coffee that we both love Chris gave me a Bialetti Express Moka Pot.

We use espresso grounds and add hot water to make Americanos.  The pot brews about nine ounces of espresso so it works well to add hot water to turn it into two cups of coffee.  The coffee pot is small, only four inches by four inches by nine inches so packs well.  It is really easy to use, simply fill the bottom with water, add the espresso grounds to the filter, screw the top on and put it on the heat.  In only a few minutes we have brewed coffee, ready to drink.

The dilemma I had with using the coffee pot while camping was that we normally do not have a fire going in the morning.  We have a camp stove that we use for the festival, but we don’t really want to lug it around for our monthly trip.  I looked online for ideas and found the Coleman Portable Bottletop Propane Gas Stove.  It is a single burner stove that screws on to the top of a small propane canister.  At about eight inches by eight inches and under seven inches tall, it is very portable.  The burner is sturdy, with a recommendation to use an eight-inch pan, but I have used it with our Dutch oven.

The burner with the coffee pot has been a perfect solution for our coffee needs.

Cost on Amazon as of this writing for the Bialetti Coffee Maker $27.87 and the Coleman Bottletop Propane Gas Grill $39.99.
