When we found ourselves with some extra time on our last Colorado trip, we decided to make a detour to see our good friends Joe and Jenny in West Virginia. While we were there, we played Wonderland Disc Golf Course and then had lunch at Lost Paddle Bar & Grill at Ace Adventure Resort after.

The resort offers camping, a festival venue, a water park, and a restaurant, in addition to the disc golf course. The restaurant had a log cabin feel, with a large bar and a multi-level dining room overlooking the water park. It felt clean and new.

We sat at the bar, where we ordered cocktails from the friendly bartender. After looking over the menu, Chris and I decided to start with Jalapeno Poppers. They came with a tasty sauce that we enjoyed.

We decided to share the Full Fish ‘n’ Chips. Before ordering, Chris checked with the bartender to make sure they offered malt vinegar. Unfortunately, when the fish came out, the bartender informed us that they were out of malt vinegar, so she brought out apple cider vinegar and red wine vinegar. We applauded the effort to make the situation better, but neither was an appropriate substitution. The fish was fried a beautiful, crispy, deep golden brown, with a light, flaky, and delicious inside. The portion was plenty to satisfy our hunger.

We found it odd that instead of the typical fries, the fish came with kettle chips. When we looked at the menu again, we realized it mentioned kettle chips in the description. The kettle chips were crispy and nicely seasoned.

We enjoyed the tasty meal in a lovely atmosphere, but the best part was the great company. It was a great lunch after a vigorous morning of disc golf on the mountain.

Cost for two cocktails, a soda, an appetizer, and an entrée $46.74
