For our first camping trip, almost 2 1/2 years ago, we went to Luray, VA.  While there we fell in love with Moonshadows Restaurant.  When we planned to return to the area this weekend, we knew we had to eat there again.  This time we went for brunch.

The restaurant is in a gorgeous old house.  As the hostess led us up the staircase, I wondered if we would sit at the same table as before.  We ended up at the table right next to our original spot.  I love the decor in the restaurant.  The beautiful color scheme has almost an Aztec feel, with brightly colored placemats, napkins and coffee cups.

I asked about the Moonshadows Mimosa and was happy to hear that they were offering a mango mimosa as well.  My choice of Cheddar Grits & Vegetables with shrimp was a good one.  The grits had a Creole sauce, giving them an entirely different flavor than all the shrimp and grits I have eaten before. The julienned vegetables were a tasty, fresh addition to the dish and the immaculately cooked shrimp were delectable.

Chris ordered Steak & Shrimp.  The grilled steak, accompanied by three jumbo shrimp, perfectly cooked over-medium eggs and tasty potato wedges was very flavorful.

The peach bread pudding was tempting, but then I saw the Gingerbread Moonshadows Pie on the menu.  As soon as I saw lemon curd in the description, I knew what I would have for dessert.  The bright, silky lemon curd was a perfect accompaniment to the spicy gingerbread and the luscious lemon cream topping was delectable.

We did not get the soup we ordered, but other than that hiccup the service was great.  Once again, we had a lovely conversation with the owner on our way out.  It impressed us that she remembered us from our first visit.

Cost for a mimosa, two cups of coffee, two entrees and a dessert $48.10.
