A while back we came across a YouTube video of a putt-putt golf course that looked like it would be a lot of fun.  I looked them up on Facebook and saved the link in the event that the opportunity to go was to arise.  Fast forward many months and we found that opportunity.  As we planned our annual road trip to Florida, we were able to arrange a stop in Myrtle Beach to visit Mount Atlanticus Minotaur Golf.

Mount Atlanticus has two 18-hole courses on four levels with indoor holes, outdoor holes, caves and plenty of water.  It is only a few blocks from the beach and there is a spectacular view of the ocean from the top levels.  Pricing options include one course for $12, with an option to add the second course for $5.50, all-day play til 4 for $14, or night play from 4 to close, one course for $12.  We went with all-day play.

The course starts out inside for two holes before you venture outside.  We played the Conch course first.  I would suggest that the Minotaur course be played first though.  I did very well scoring 2 on the first five holes, putting me ahead of Chris by 6.  We are a bit competitive, so that made me very happy.  Then came the sixth hole and I fell apart with a 5.  It was a really fun game as we wound our way around the course, through caves and continued to climb.  On the 12th hole, I made the mistake of stepping backward, straight into the water.  Luckily I managed not to fall but did have to finish the game with a soaked shoe.

After the eighth hole, Chris pulled his game together and finished out with 2s and 3s.  He even pulled off a hole in one on the 15th hole.  As we continued to play we kept climbing.  The 18th hole is on the fourth story.  It was a fun hole that started on the top-level and then finished on the third level.  I really only played poorly on five holes, but that was enough for Chris to beat me 47-50.  After the 18th hole, we walked back inside to find a 19th hole.  It was a thin strip surrounded by water leading to the hole.  If you manage to get a hole in one they give you a free pass for life.  We did not end up with free passes.

We moved to the Minotaur course next.  Again the first two holes are inside.  This course also winds around and up, with waterfalls and statues depicting the lost continent of Atlantis.  There were also dinosaurs thrown into the mix as well.  The second game was equally fun (without the water incident).  Some of the holes were a little challenging if you did not hit the ball right.  I made a hole in one on the 3rd hole and Chris did on the 9th.  The 18th hole finishes on the fourth level as well but did not have the drop like the Conch course.  We played a little better on the second course, but Chris still beat me 45-48.  They have a 19th hole for this course as well, but again, we did not end up with lifetime passes.

Mount Atlanticus was a fantastic way to spend the first day of our vacation.
