One beautiful, sunny afternoon, Jenn and I visited the upstairs deck of Ryan’s Pizza and Pub. The view of the water was spectacular. The bartender was friendly and attentive. As we enjoyed our happy hour beers, we decided we would like to come back for dinner. After talking to the bartender, we learned they do not take reservations, but instead, seating is first-come, first-served.

We went home and grabbed the family to return and put our name on the list. The wait was not long, about 20 minutes, but plenty was going on in the area to occupy the kids for that time. After receiving a text indicating our table was ready, we went inside and sat at a table next to the bar. Chris and I were still a little gun-shy about indoor seating, but our table was off to itself and away from other customers.

It was a busy night for the popular restaurant, and our server seemed a bit frazzled, but overall, she was efficient, and most of the food came out correctly. We decided to keep it simple this time. I ordered a house salad and Garlic Parmesan Wings. I debated whether I should get ten wings or twenty. When the wings came out, I was happy I had settled on the ten-piece order. The large, meaty wings were fantastic and plenty enough for a meal.

Chris ordered a Ryan’s Special Pizza. I questioned ordering a whole pizza when they offered it by the slice, but Chris was thinking about taking what he didn’t eat home for later. When the pizza arrived, I couldn’t help but laugh. It was a giant, 18-inch pizza. The delicious pizza was packed full of pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, beef, onions, mushrooms, black olives, and banana peppers. On the menu, the Ryan’s Special comes with green peppers. The server seemed to have an issue with our request to replace the green peppers with banana peppers, but in the end, we were able to get the pizza the way we wanted it.

After enjoying a great meal, we asked for a box for the remaining pizza. The server seemed offended by our request, stating that she knew how to do her job. Unfortunately, when we opened the box, the pizza looked like the server had thrown it into the box.

Despite the issues we experienced with service, we would return to Ryan’s Pizza and Pub for the excellent food and spectacular view.

Cost for two beers, a cocktail, a house salad, an order of wings, and a pizza $63.49.
