While visiting with friends in Merritt Island, Florida, we decided to go for Taco Tuesday at Tapa N Tacos in Cocoa. They had been before for lunch and enjoyed the $10 Taco Tuesday special, three tacos, and a margarita. The restaurant is in a village square, with outdoor seating available on the sidewalk in front. There was live music, which we enjoyed having in the background.
We were a group of seven, so there was a short wait for a table. Jenn and I had happy hour margaritas at the bar while we waited. Still skittish about crowds, I was delighted when they gave us an outside table.
Unfortunately, while our server was friendly, he was not very attentive, forgetting things such as sour cream that we requested when we ordered. We were disappointed to find that the selection of tacos for the special was limited and did not include chicken, which had not been the case when Jenn had gone for lunch previously.
I decided on two pork tacos and a chorizo taco. All were tasty, though nothing exceptional. The tacos consisted of the meat topped with a sprinkling of cilantro and a few pieces of tomato. I thought it was unusual that the regular tacos have cabbage instead of lettuce. It wasn’t a bad thing, but I had never seen tacos done that way before.
Chris went more exotic with his taco selections, picking two specialty tacos, which had more to them than the Taco Tuesday tacos. The Taco De Pulpo had smoked octopus, while the Soft-Shell Crab Taco had, you guessed it, soft-shell crab. Both tacos also had cabbage, pico, and lime crema. While Chris enjoyed the tacos, again, they were nothing special.
The margarita, on the other hand, was delicious. I’m not fond of a syrupy margarita, and this one did not disappoint. It was bright and fresh tasting. I would be inclined to return for Taco Tuesday again, for the margaritas if nothing else.
Cost for the Taco Tuesday Special (a margarita and three tacos), two specialty tacos, and a side of sour cream $35.04.
The margaritas sound delicious!
It was nice.
I’m used to cabbage on seafood tacos, but not with land meats — interesting. I’m definitely admiring the octopus taco. And a really good margarita! 🙂 $10 is a great deal.
The specialty tacos were much nicer than the bargain tacos, but you can’t go wrong with a great margarita in the deal.
I’m a sucker for Mexican food wherever I go!
It is almost always a winner.
The boys love tacos! They would surely enjoy this restaurant.
They had some unusual tacos on the menu, which was fun.
I’m a taco fan, but the margarita sounds delicious!
The tacos were good, but the margarita stole the show.
There are several places that I go for the drink and not the food..lol
I have a few of those myself.
Mmmmmm! Tuesday Tacos are good everywhere!
Tacos are usually a good choice.
I love Taco Tuesdays! It is fun to try a new place!
My husband enjoyed the octopus and soft-shell crab tacos.
The margaritas sound tasty. I wonder if they have any vegetarian or plant-based options for tacos. I went to a taco restaurant recently that had some surprisingly good options.
That I don’t know, but then again, I wasn’t really looking for that option.
Sounds like the margarita made up for the taco shortcomings!
That it did!
I have never heard of octopus or cabbage on tacos! And I always love finding a great place for margaritas!!
Maybe it’s a Florida thing. The tacos we had in Key West were made with cabbage as well.
I love trying different taco places! And i like fish tacos… so the crab would be right up my alley!
It’s amazing how many great creations can be made with tacos.
We have visited Cocoa Beach several times and are always looking for new places to eat. We cross Merritt Island on the way: we’ll have to stop in for a margarita. While it sounds like the tacos weren’t exceptional, I’d be up for trying a soft-shelled crab taco.
We discovered several great places to eat in that area.
The taco’s looked really wonderful!
The Taco Tuesday special tacos weren’t that great, but the ones off the menu were much better.
I only eat veggie tacos now, however, I’ve had quite a few with shredded cabbage on them. Must be a regional thing. Some do and some areas don’t.
I had never heard of it before, but we had tacos twice that week with cabbage. Wondering if it’s a Florida thing.
We can eat tacos anytime! We will need to head down and check this place out.
We found several great places to eat in the area when you venture down there.
