After we arrived in Jupiter, Florida, we were ready for dinner. I looked online and was happy to see several Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives spots nearby. After looking at all the menus, we decided The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill in West Palm Beach looked the most promising. The restaurant was easy to find, and we quickly found parking less than a block away.
Beautiful stained-glass windows adorned the restaurant. On the inside, I enjoyed the rustic décor with exposed beams. The hostess asked if we preferred indoor or outdoor seating when we entered. When we replied outdoor, she indicated that the only outdoor seating that day was the beer garden. Chris decided we would sit at the bar instead.
The drink menu was extensive, with a nice variety of beers and exciting cocktails. Chris picked Original Sin Black Widow Cider, and I chose the intriguing Pineapple Jalapeno Mule. The drink was delicious but did not have the kick I expected from the jalapenos. Chris then ordered a German beer, Warsteiner Dunkel. I didn’t understand why he ordered another drink so soon, but then he poured the beer into the cider. I thought it was a strange thing to do until he asked me to taste it. The combination had a wonderful flavor.
The menu item that caught my attention when I looked online was the Brisket Pierogies, so of course, we had to order them for our appetizer. The dumplings were delectable, filled with smoked brisket and topped with a beer demi-glace, caramelized onions, and house-made sour cream sauce. The combination of rich brisket and demi-glace with the delicate pierogies and the tart sour cream was delectable.
We had difficulty picking our dinner with a menu full of potentially tasty options. I finally settled on the Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage with a side of the Butcher Mac & Cheese, while Chris, a brisket lover, wanted the Smoked Beef Brisket Platter. After Zach answered our questions about the food, we contemplated the idea of sharing the platter, each of us picking one side. Ultimately, he decided against sharing and ordered the platter for himself with Brussels Sprouts and Grilled Asparagus for the sides.
The food arrived quickly, and we were impressed with the brisket platter. It was a considerable portion of brisket presented on a cutting board. The grilled asparagus was delicious, but the fried Brussels sprouts stole the show. The crispy sprouts with sea salt and a hint of citrus were delicious. The prime brisket was fantastic, with cherry and hickory wood hints coming through. As it turned out, there was more than enough to share.
I enjoyed the Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage served on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut and caramelized onions on the side. The spicy peppers were a great complement to the creamy Vermont cheddar. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the tangy sauerkraut and the sweet onion. They worked perfectly with the sausage. I am not usually a fan of pretzel buns, but in this case, it was the consummate vessel, holding up well under the juicy sausage.
The bacon-topped macaroni and cheese was creamy and delicious, but I could only eat a few bites after the sausage. We boxed up the rest of the brisket and the bread to enjoy a sandwich later. Of course, the mac & cheese also went into the box. Intrigued by the Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, we ordered one of those to take with us as well.
As we left the restaurant, we walked by the butcher shop display case, drooling over the gorgeous cuts of meat. With the excellent service and the delicious food, this was a thoroughly satisfying experience.
Later that night, after we watched the lunar eclipse, we finished the dinner and indulged in the fantastic cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. I loved the texture the crunchy donut bits gave the creamy cheesecake.
The cost for two beers, a cocktail, an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, and espresso was $119.84.
It all looks delicious!
The food was so good!
