An Exciting and Terrifying Future

With the pandemic came the cancellation of so many events. When Imagine Festival canceled, we decided enough was enough and planned our own mini-festival.
We enjoyed our visit to Grayson Highlands State Park. The ponies were spectacular. I was particularly enthralled by the babies.
After a long hiatus from travel because of Covid, we finally had the chance to return to Devil's Bathtub. It was as if I could breathe again.
Suddenly the cars in front of us slowed down to a crawl. I could not figure out why there would be so much traffic in the park.
For the last seven years, we have spent our vacation in Florida, wonderful road trips for the last six. With our plans to move to Colorado later this year, we decided to go for our vacation to check it out before we committed.
With a forecast indicating chilly days and a cold night, we headed back to the Luray area to revisit our first camping destination. Most of the campgrounds in the area are not open in the winter, but I managed to find one that could accommodate our needs a little north of Luray.
Last weekend we went in search of waterfalls. I love going to waterfalls in the winter and early spring. Between the snow and the heavy rains, the waterfalls are more dramatic at that time of the year.
After about 45 minutes, the boat suddenly slowed. There was a whale close by. In just a few minutes, we saw a spray of water rising from the ocean followed by the whale's back and dorsal fin. He flipped his tail as he dove back under.
December is such a hectic time of year. The holidays create their own chaos, work gets very busy, and there is not enough time for rest and relaxation. With all the hub-bub, there is a temptation to skip our monthly camping weekend. Instead of not going, we opted to plan a close to home, relaxing trip this time.
