While researching places to eat lunch in Jacksonville, Florida, I came upon a website featuring new restaurants in the area. As I scanned through the article, Randeez Nutz Express caught my attention. Their specialty is boiled peanuts, one of Chris’s favorites. While the name amused me, the tagline “Get Our Nutz In Your Mouth” made it clear we had to go there for lunch.

The restaurant is in the corner of a shopping center, with grand opening signs still flying outside. It was quiet when we arrived. The décor was pleasant with positive messages on the walls. They even provided feminine products at no cost in the restroom, which I thought was a nice touch.

Our server was friendly and helpful, even checking on the answer instead of guessing when she didn’t know the answer to our questions.

After looking over the menu, I decided to order a cup of gumbo with rice. The gumbo was delicious, flavorful with the perfect heat. It was not an in-your-face type of heat, but instead, the warm spiciness grew on my tongue as I ate.

Chris ordered Blackened Fish with red beans and rice. The beautifully cooked fish was flaky with just enough blackening seasoning. The red beans and rice were fantastic and expertly cooked as well. I loved the flavor of the spicy aioli that came with the fish.

Smoked Turkey Collard Greens Boiled Peanuts Randeez Nutz Express Jacksonville Florida

The portions were generous, giving us plenty to eat, but we still wanted to taste the boiled peanuts. Of the seven flavors available, Chris picked Smoked Turkey Collard Greens. We planned to snack on the nuts while we played disc golf.

Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to taste them. We were running out of daylight, so we rushed through our game. With turkey as one of the ingredients, we decided not to risk eating them without proper storage in a cooler.

We would happily return to Randeez Nutz Express again for the delicious food and excellent service. I think we’ll start with the boiled peanuts as an appetizer the next time.

The cost for a soda, a beer, two entrees, and boiled peanuts with a credit card fee was $42.37.
